Emma Haggerty

Emma Haggerty is a GIS professional who specializes in bridging advanced spatial analysis with user-friendly data visualization to solve real-world problems. With two degrees and a certificate from George Washington University, Emma has garnered over six years of experience in GIS, geoprogramming, and climate research. During her time at GW, Emma served as a Graduate Researcher focused on climate change in the Arctic, working under the Cold Regions Research team, the Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring (CALM) program, the Belmont Forum, the National Science Foundation (NSF), and more. She has published research related to climate impacts, infrastructure change, and predictive modeling with geospatial programming in MDPI's Environments, AGU, and Nature, and has a book in production with Cambridge Press, set to release in Fall 2026. When it comes to research, Emma is passionate about student involvement, science communication, and the benefits of proactive modeling for emergency management and climate mitigation. Outside of GW, Emma currently supports US expansion at MapTiler, a mapping software platform dedicated to developing the next generation of web-mapping tools, helping global business, organizations, and government agencies leverage geospatial products to build future resilience.
