Antoinette is a people-environment geographer with experience doing research on environmental knowledge systems and agriculture in rural and urban settings, principally in the Brazilian Amazon. She has served on the faculties of Michigan State University and Johns Hopkins University. More recently she worked as a science administrator at the US National Science Foundation, from which she retired in 2025.

Antoinette is an adjunct professor and research affiliate in the department and teaches World Regional Geography (fall) and Agriculture and Sustainable Food Systems (spring).
